The Rewind Technique aims to treat traumatic flashbacks and intrusive thoughts in a gentle and non-intrusive way. Rewind requires no more than two sessions to be effective. If you have experienced a traumatic life event or situation as the victim, an onlooker, or whether you are experiencing traumatic thoughts about something that has happened to somebody else, Rewind is able to remove involuntary recall. Some examples of traumas may be a road traffic accident, a life changing injury or similar.
Rewind is also effective in the treatment of phobias.
Using relaxation and visualisation, the Rewind Technique aims to move traumatic memories from short-term (working) memory, where they are often stuck and associated with strong emotions, to long-term memory, allowing the memory to be consolidated and recalled without triggering the same intense emotional response and ending the intrusive thought cycle.
See the links below for further reading or get in touch with any questions. Rewind can be added in to a regular counselling session.
A treatment for recurring intrusive thoughts and flashbacks associated with PTSD. ‘Closure without Disclosure‘
Rewind offers a way of permanently stopping the involuntary recall by filing the traumatic event in long-term memory, so it comes under your control…Voluntary recall remains.
Results have shown to be up to 85% effective following-up after two years, with no re-emerging symptoms.
